SAT Bootcamp

Tutor Ted's SAT Bootcamp is a course designed to comprehensively prepare students for the SAT. We will work out of two books: The College Board's Official Guide to the SAT, and my book, Tutor Ted's Guide to the SAT.

My curriculum, which has been written and revised repeatedly over an eight year period, breaks each of the sections of the SAT--Math, Critical Reading, and Writing--down to their component parts. The Tutor Ted approach is three-fold:

1) Teach the content that appears on every single SAT.

2) Share the strategies and explore the patterns of the SAT. This is a standardized test, which means that by its nature it is very repetitive. Once we understand how the SAT writes a question, we will be able to recognize correct answers with greater ease.

3) Develop the practical skills--time management, omitting difficult questions--that each individual student needs in order to address the SAT with confidence.

Bootcamp is for rising seniors who want to maximize their SAT scores before the application process, and rising juniors who want to get a head start on SAT and PSAT prep before the grueling junior year.

The cost is $1,175, which includes all materials, including The Official Guide to the SAT and Tutor Ted's Guide to the SAT.

Session 1: Monday August 18 through Saturday August 23, 9am to 12:30pm daily; Session 1 will be held at Writers Bootcamp, Bergamot Station, Santa Monica. Plenty of free parking available. Class size is limited to 14 students.

Session 2: ADVANCED: Monday August 25 through Saturday August 30, 9am to 12:30pm daily; Session 2 will be held at Writers Bootcamp, Bergamot Station, Santa Monica. Street parking available. Class size is limited to 10 students. Advanced admission is limited to those scoring 650 or higher on all three sections of the SAT or an equivalent test like the PSAT.

Practice Test Series

There is no better way to prepare for the rigors of a four hour test than by taking as many simulated tests as possible. Tutor Ted has every SAT the College Board has released since the switch to the new test in 2005.

The description of this course is simple: you show up on Saturdays and take an SAT. I correct them and send them back to you.

The course will run from Saturday August 23rd up till and including the Saturday before until the October SAT. Interested Juniors can follow up that series with practice PSATs to prepare for the Wednesday October 17th PSAT.

My preference is that those enrolled in the Practice Test Series be my students. With that in mind, Tutor Ted Bootcamp and English Workshop students will receive a $200 discount on the $400 enrollment fee. I will also hold a few spots for non-Tutor Ted students, but that number will be initially limited to 5. Total enrollment in the Practice Test Series will be limited to 30.
